OB & Live Production

Outside Broadcasting

  • OB Live Production, also known as Outside Broadcast Live Production, is a term used in the broadcasting industry to refer to the process of capturing and transmitting live events on location. OB stands for Outside Broadcast, which means that the production is done outside of a traditional studio setting.
  • OB Live Production involves setting up a mobile production unit, often referred to as an OB van or OB truck, equipped with cameras, video switchers, audio mixers, graphics generators, and other necessary equipment. This mobile unit allows broadcasters to capture and produce live events such as sports matches, concerts, news coverage, and other special events.
  • The OB van is typically parked near the event location, with cameras positioned strategically to capture different angles of the action. The video signals from the cameras are sent to the video switcher, where the director can choose which camera shots to use for the live broadcast. The audio signals from various sources, including microphones and audio mixers, are also mixed and synchronized with the video.
  • OB Truck design is crucial, everything must be positioned wisely, seating, equipment, what will be fixed, what will be movable to outside, all the connectors must be ready and easy for hooking up. Besides, overall setups need water protection, vibration test, and robust for all environment condition
